Jaime Garcia is the Regional Vice President for the Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC), a regional trade organization for hospitals and health systems. As Regional Vice President, Jaime provides leadership in health care policy and advocacy on behalf of over 90 member hospitals within the Los Angeles County region in the areas of behavioral health, emergency health & trauma, homelessness, managed care, waste and workforce among other issues. The primary goals for advocacy are to improve the regulatory environment for hospitals and enhance the health status of the communities that hospitals serve. This requires interfacing with regulatory agencies/departments, coordinating government relations activities, and working with community-based and business organizations on developing shared partnership opportunities.
Before joining HASC in 2008, Jaime worked for Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center where he served as the Director of Public Affairs. He was instrumental in developing and maintaining external relationships with businesses and community-based organizations, as well as coordinated internal communications to over 3,500 physicians and hospital employees. Other areas of responsibility included oversight of the medical center’s Community Health Needs Assessment and its implementation plan and interfaced with local, state and federal representatives from Southeast Los Angeles.
And, prior to working for Kaiser Permanente, Jaime worked for two members of the California State Assembly who specialized in public safety and health care policy respectively.
Jaime earned his MPA from California State University at Long Beach and a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine.
